YMCA Adventure Club Gives Back to Community - blog post image

Oil City Youth are learning the importance of giving back to the community through volunteerism and caring for others through a unique program at the Oil City YMCA.

YMCA Adventure Club is a program designed by Aquatics Director Jennifer Kissell-Dudek, who has been with the YMCA for over four years. Her vision of the teen program has grown in to a unique blend of volunteerism and adventure for teens ages 12 – 18.

Youth in the YMCA Adventure Club volunteer and earn participation in adventure opportunities. The adventures have included flying at the Venango County Airport, trips to Skyzone, sleepovers in tipis, Scuba Diving at the Pittsburgh Zoo, and participating in an Escape Room.

Adventure Club has helped the Humane Society, the Oil City Library, the Salvation Army, Community Services of Venango County, and countless other organizations in the area. This year alone, YMCA Adventure Club has accumulated 348 volunteer hours in the community.

“It feels good to do good,” said Jennifer Kissell-Dudek of the time spent volunteering in the community with the group. “It teaches the youth to be giving of their time and to help others for the good of the community.”

Teens who wish to join the YMCA Adventure Club should contact Jen Kissell-Dudek at the YMCA at 814-677-3000
