Adult Programs

Did you know that we offer Child Watch for children ages 8 months to 7 years while their parents work out in the YMCA facility?

9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. This service is FREE FOR YMCA MEMBERS, $2 per hour per child for non-members.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR YMCA PROGRAMS:

  • You may register in person by stopping by the YMCA Member Service Desk.
  • You may register on this web site by clicking the On-Line Registration button found on the top left of any web page.
  • You may download and print some registration forms at www.oilcityymca.org/resources and mail the completed form along with your payment.

MEMBER LUNCHEONS

Luncheons are held monthly at the Oil City YMCA.  Gather with friends and socialize while eating some great food!  We ask that you pre-register prior to each luncheon and bring a  covered dish to share!

Spring Luncheon Schedule

  • Friday, March 13 @ 11:00 am—St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Lunch—Corned Beef and cabbage will be  provided.  Bring a side dish or dessert to share.
  • Friday, April 17 @ 11:00 am—Easter Celebration Lunch— Ham & potatoes will be provided. Bring your favorite Easter side dish or dessert to share.
  • Friday, May 15 @ 11:00 am—Around the World Lunch—Bring your favorite dish to share from around the world.

LEARN TO RUN A 5K

Become stronger, faster and healthier with each step.  All ability levels are welcome to participate.  Training will be twice a week with Katie Roth in the Wellness Center.  Commit with a friend and stick to your goal.  Sign-up at the Member Service Desk for $20.

ADULT TAP CLASSES

Join Raquel for 45 minutes of tap four times per month.  Classes will be held each Thursday from 6:30—7:15 pm.  Beginners and experienced tap dancers are welcome.  Tap shoes and comfortable clothes are encouraged.  Age 18+  $20/month Members and $35/month Non-members.

TAE CHI

Tae Chi embraces the mind, body and spirit – Originating in ancient China, tai chi is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body.  The class is free for veterans! More details about the start of this program are coming soon.

TAE KWON DO AGES 6 THROUGH ADULT

Tae Kwon Do is a family sport that can be enjoyed by all ages beginning at six years old.  Classes meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm—8:00 pm.  Six week session fee is $22 Members and $32 Non-Members

  • SPRING SESSION 1:  February 26—April 1
  • SPRING SESSION 2:  April 15—May 20

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America.  The game is played in the YMCA gymnasium and utilizes a paddle and a pickleball.  The YMCA has three pickleball courts for casual and competitive play.  Beginners are encouraged to attend Wednesday mornings to learn the game and skills from more experienced players. FREE for Members; $5 Drop-in fee for non-members.

  • Tuesday   8:30 am  – 11:30 am; Full Gymnasium
  • Wednesday  8:30 am  – 11:00 am Full Gymnasium
  • Thursday  8:30 am  –  11:00 am; Full Gymnasium

MEMBER WELLNESS CHALLENGES

These incentives to exercise are for members only.  Everyone needs a reason to exercise, so why not make it fun?  We’re encouraging you to set goals and reach them through our fun programs.  Grab a friend and let’s do it together.

MARCH MILE MADNESS

Track your miles (swimming, running/walking, and biking at the YMCA) and reach the goal of 31 miles in 31 days.  Those who complete the miles will be entered to win gift cards.  Cost to participate:  $5.

APRIL IS NATIONAL WALKING MONTH

Sign your name on a foot around the windows of the wellness center if you participated in a walk.  Free!

SUMMER SLIMDOWN—May 1—June 30

Slim down and earn cash.  This eight week challenge will motivate you to lose 6% of your body weight, and if you do, you’ll earn cash.  Participants will weigh in at the beginning of the challenge and weigh-out at the end.  $25/Members or $35/Non-Members.

LEARN TO RUN A 5K

Become stronger, healthier and faster with each step!  Pick up your training schedule at the front desk.  Schedule your running sessions each week with Katie Roth!  All   ability levels are welcome.  Sign up with a friend and stay committed together!  This program is taught by Katie Roth and is ongoing!  Register now for $20 at the Membership Desk.


CARDIAC REHABILITATION – PHASE III & HEALTHY FRIENDS GROUP EXERCISE PROGRAM

For individuals having completed Cardiac Rehab Phase I and Phase II or for those who would like supervision in an exercise program. Program offered between the hours of 7:30 and 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Monthly fee $15 members/$25 non-members.

PERSONAL COACH

Train three times a week by appointment with a personal coach. Monthly fee $50 members/$75 non-members.

PERSONAL TRAINING

David McClellan, EPT is available to work with you one-on-one to meet your fitness needs and goals. One hour session fee: $28 YMCA Member, $40 Non-member. Please call the member service desk to schedule your appointment. 814-677-3000.

SMART START PROGRAM – FREE PROGRAM FOR NEW MEMBERS

Smart Start is a program that provides you with the tools you need to reach your fitness goals in the first month of your membership. The program is customized to your needs and will help you set attainable goals and provide the ongoing support necessary for your success. In three short meetings, we can take you from an exercise skeptic to a confident individual who is excited about working out. In just a few sessions, you will gain the tools and resources that will help you succeed! Register at the Membership Desk.  The program is free.

FITNESS ASSESSMENT

Under the direction of a YMCA Trainer, we’ll assess your cardiovascular fitness and endurance. You will also be weighed and measured along with a flexibility, strength and endurance test. This will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses and help you to determine a work out plan to achieve your fitness goals. FREE for members by appointment.
