Adult Programs

Did you know that we offer Child Watch for children ages 8 months to 7 years while their parents work out in the YMCA facility?

9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. This service is FREE FOR YMCA MEMBERS, $2 per hour per child for non-members.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR YMCA PROGRAMS:

  • You may register in person by stopping by the YMCA Member Service Desk.
  • You may register on this web site by clicking the On-Line Registration button found on the top left of any web page.
  • You may download and print some registration forms at www.oilcityymca.org/resources and mail the completed form along with your payment.

ADULT BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Winter adult Basketball League begins February 3 for ages 18+.  The league will consist of a round robin regular season with teams guaranteed at least six games.  Teams must have a minimum of 7 players or maximum of 12. Register by     February 1.  Cost:  $275 per team

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America.  The game is played in the YMCA gymnasium and utilizes a paddle and a pickleball.  The YMCA has three pickleball courts for casual and competitive play.  Beginners are encouraged to attend Wednesday mornings to learn the game and skills from more      experienced players.

TAE KWON DO

Tae Kwon Do is held at the Oil City YMCA for ages 6-adult. Class meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00—7:30 pm with Chris Blauser, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  Youth and adults may participate together. Cost:  $22/members; $32/non-members for 6 weeks.

  • January 6 – February 10
  • February 24 – March 31

ADULT BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The YMCA Adult Basketball league begins on Wednesday, November 11, with games beginning at 6:30 pm. All games will be held on Wednesday evenings.  All players must be 18+ to compete in the league.  League will consist of a round robin regular season with 6 guaranteed games.  A single elimination playoff tournament will complete the season.  Register for $275 per team of up to 12 players.  Contact Max Krepps for more               information.

CARD CLUB

Card Club will be held the first Tuesday of the month in the Multipurpose Room from 11:00—2:00 pm.  Bring a snack to share.  FREE!  First meeting is December 1!  Meets December 1, January 5, F!ebruary 2

CHESS & CHECKERS CLUB

Do you play chess or checkers?  Join others who want to play.  Game boards are available, or bring your own.  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00—2:00 pm.  Other times arranged by  players.  Meets in the coffee room.

BINGO

Connect within the community at the YMCA!  Bingo is a great opportunity to make some new friends, have fun, and enjoy playing the game.  Bingo meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 1:00—2:30 pm.  Open to the Public.

TAE CHI

Tae Chi embraces the mind, body and spirit – Originating in ancient China, tai chi is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body.  The class is free for veterans! More details about the start of this program are coming soon.

MEMBER WELLNESS CHALLENGES

These incentives to exercise are for members only.  Everyone needs a reason to exercise, so why not make it fun?  We’re encouraging you to set goals and reach them through our fun programs.  Grab a friend and let’s do it together.

SLIMDOWN FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Lose 6% of your body weight in 8 weeks, November 2—January 6.  Meet your goal and you are guaranteed to win cash. Weigh in on November 2, 3, or 4 from 6 am to 9 pm.  Cost: $25 for members and $35 for non-members


CARDIAC REHABILITATION – PHASE III & HEALTHY FRIENDS GROUP EXERCISE PROGRAM

For individuals having completed Cardiac Rehab Phase I and Phase II or for those who would like supervision in an exercise program. Program offered between the hours of 7:30 and 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Monthly fee $15 members/$25 non-members.

PERSONAL COACH

Train three times a week by appointment with a personal coach. Monthly fee $50 members/$75 non-members.

PERSONAL TRAINING

David McClellan, EPT is available to work with you one-on-one to meet your fitness needs and goals. One hour session fee: $28 YMCA Member, $40 Non-member. Please call the member service desk to schedule your appointment. 814-677-3000.

HEALTH & NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING

Nutrition Counseling with Nicole Shreve is coming soon to the Oil City YMCA. An individualized nutrition plan will be developed to help achieve desired health goals, including supporting behavior change and chronic disease prevention, based on an initial nutrition assessment. Whether you’re a trained athlete, looking to lose weight, or begin a healthy lifestyle change; nutrition plays a major role in your success! SMART START PROGRAM – FREE PROGRAM FOR NEW MEMBERS

Smart Start is a program that provides you with the tools you need to reach your fitness goals in the first month of your membership. The program is customized to your needs and will help you set attainable goals and provide the ongoing support necessary for your success. In three short meetings, we can take you from an exercise skeptic to a confident individual who is excited about working out. In just a few sessions, you will gain the tools and resources that will help you succeed! Register at the Membership Desk.  The program is free.

FITNESS ASSESSMENT

Under the direction of a YMCA Trainer, we’ll assess your cardiovascular fitness and endurance. You will also be weighed and measured along with a flexibility, strength and endurance test. This will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses and help you to determine a work out plan to achieve your fitness goals. FREE for members by appointment.
