The Healthy Kids Running Series is a 5 week running program in the Spring for kids in pre-k through 8th grade. Races take place once a week and age appropriate running events are offered including the 50 yard dash, the 1/4 mile the 1/2 mile and the one mile run. Races are held on Sundays, April 2, 9, 23, 30 and May 7. Register at ww.healthykidsrunningseries.org. The cost is $35 or $10 per race. All runners receive t-shirts and award medals.
Youth indoor soccer will focus on fundamentals, basic skills, teamwork and sportsmanship for ages 3-11. This clinic begins March 25 for and lasts five weeks. Groups will be formed for ages 3-4, ages 5-6 and grades 1-5. Indoor soccer meets on Saturday mornings. Register at the YMCA. All participants receive t-shirts. $25 for Members and $35/Non-Members.
This six week soccer program begins April 29 for ages 3-4, ages 5-6 and grades 1-5. The program will teach skills through fun drills for the first two weeks. Games will be played during the remaining four weeks. Teams will be formed for each age group. Spring Soccer meets on Saturday mornings. All participants receive t-shirts. $30/Members/$40 Non-Members.
T-ball for ages 3-6 teaches basic baseball skills like running bases, hitting and catching. This six week program will start with three weeks of skills followed by three weeks of learning through t-ball games. The program will begin on Tuesday, May 9 and meet each week on Tuesday evenings. All participants receive t-shirts. Parent participation is encouraged. $25/Members and $35/Non-Members.
The Jr. High Basketball Tournament provides an opportunity to compete with other local teams. This one-day tournament will take place on April 22. Registration will take place through April 11. Cost is $150 per team.
Youth Basketball Summer Camps are for youth in grades 3—8. Basketball Summer Camp will take place June 12, 13, 14 and 15 at the YMCA. Youth will be focusing on perfecting in game skills like shooting, dribbling, defense and much more. Youth will also be participating in live gameplay during the camp. Cost will be $50 per person.
Join us for a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on April 29. This exciting tournament for ages 10-18 will guarantee at least four games with more possible, depending on the number of teams. Teams will be split into divisions based on age, gender, skill and height. The tournament will begin at 9 am. Register by April 24. Cost is $40/team.
Instruction for girls and boys in grades 3-8 will include fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, rebounding, 1-on-1 moves and 3-on-3 play. Fun contests and games will be played. The clinic will take place April 18, 19, 25, 26 and May 2, 3, 9, 10 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-7 pm. Jodi Gault is retired University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Coach. Cost is $50/Members and $75/Non-members or $15/session/Members and $25/session/Non-Members.
This program is held Thursdays from 5 pm to 6 pm for ages 3, 4 & 5. Children begin with a half hour gymnastics lesson and then head to the pool for a 30 minute swim lesson with the beginner swim class. Parents must be present to help with the transition. Hint: Girls wear swimsuits for gymnastics and boys wear their trunks and a t-shirt for fast change. Monthly fee: $20 for members and $40 for non-members.
Tumble Time offers toddlers a safe environment to walk, run, tumble, climb, jump and explore. Songs games and equipment will provide a structured and active playtime while developing physical strength, flexibility, confidence and social skills. Classes require parent or caregiver participation. Class will be held Wednesdays from 10:15 to 11: 00 am in the gymnasium beginning September 7. The class is FREE for Members and $15 for Non-Members.
Youth are introduced to skills in bar, vault, beam and floor routines. For children wanting to pursue cheerleading and gymnastics, this program will help increase strength, flexibility and agility. Fundamental Gymnastics meets Monday & Thursday from 5-6 pm. The monthly fee is $32 (Members) and $55 (Non-Members).
The gymnastics team consists of gymnasts who have the desire to compete. The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars compete at levels 2-9. Team practices are Monday/Thursday 5:30-8:30 pm and other times TBA. Team Fee is $50 per month. For more information, please call Head Coach Becky Berry at 814-677-3000.
Members of the club will have opportunities to experience adventures like zip lining, hiking trips, kayaking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, paintball and more. To participate in the adventure, members will earn the privilege by volunteering for service activities within the community. Work out with our personal trainers in a fun and educational setting. The focus of the class will be on weight training and proper gym etiquette. This program meets on Tuesdays from 3:30—4:30 pm. The class is limited to five participants. Please register in advance at the Member Services Desk to reserve a spot. Intro to Fitness is free to YMCA Members and others will pay $20 a month.
